HD-SDI CCTV uses rg59 Coax cable – but good quality cable only

This is a quick post just to make sure everyoe knows that HD-SDI CCTV products use RG59 coax cable – that’s is the same kind of cable most analogue (standard definition) systems use.

However, there are a couple of issues to be aware of.

First – make sure it is good quality cable – if it is cheap, low quality cable it simply will not work.

Second – the cable length varies (again this is related to the quality of cable), but good quality cable should allow you to run the video signal up to 65-85 metres. You can extend this distance by using HD-SDI repeaters.
